This painting is inspired by the moment we arrive at the beach, the way the sand feels on our feet, the sound of the waves and the way our eyes are drawn to the sea. It’s the feeling of carrying the weight of our lives to the beach with us, only for them to collide with the beauty of nature. It’s that moment of brilliant perspective.

I love that the first layers of ‘Serenity’ were painted on the beach. It was the most dreamy morning. Nothing but the wind in my hair and the sound of the waves. I love even more that the canvas got covered in sand and seawater with waves literally crashing over it at points. It’s a painting that became completely one with the elements it was inspired by. I think that makes this painting so special, and I am so excited to do a lot more painting at the beach in the future!
